Hi, I’m Jennifer
(but you can call me Jenn) – introverted photographer/wife/mom of three girls. I love my family, Mexican food, Disneyworld, DIY, dessert, a good glass of Riesling. I strive to create honest images of your family’s personalities, emotions, and connections that you will treasure for years to come.
Well, somehow it’s been 3 months since I last posted. But I’ve been a bit busy- busy with trying something totally new (for me at least). I approached the director of my daughter’s preschool about doing school portraits for the kiddos there. I have had at least one kid at that preschool for the last nine years, and have never had school portraits of them until they went to elementary. I don’t know why it took me until my youngest’s last year there to think about this?! The director was totally onboard and super supportive, which felt awesome.
These are not your typical ‘stand in front of a cheesy backdrop and you’ve got one second to attempt to smile’ photos. I wanted to do something more classic, more timeless, and much more personal. I also loved the idea of actually having choices as a parent about what photo to order, which meant I was going to take A LOT of photos. I wasn’t sure how it would feel to photograph so many kids in such a short amount of time, especially with what I was hoping to get in terms of images. Turns out- it was amazing! I’m not going to lie- it definitely exhausted my introverted, home-body personality. But it was also incredibly fulfilling to see just how fun and unique all the children were. And when I went home, and got to editing- oh my goodness, it made me so happy seeing all those little faces on my screen.
Now for the best part: the photos. Lots and lots of photos.
I could not pick a favorite if I tried, – every time I look at them, new ones stand out to me.
A soulful stare is totally my jam.
Little kid eyelashes kill me.
Also- I am obsessed with photographing kids’ hair. Super obsessed.
Outfits and accessories were on point.
The range of expressions was just amazing.
I have to give credit where it’s due- many, many of these sweet grins would not have been possible without my daughter’s stuffed toy, Bella- the farting monkey. She accompanied me everyday and got very worn out making all these kiddos laugh.
I am already looking forward to doing this again next year, and would love the opportunity to get even more sweet faces in front of my camera.
